Partner terms

The Cobundle Partner Program, in plain English.

What you earn

  • 30% recurring commission on each store you refer, for as long as that store keeps a paid Cobundle subscription while you're a partner. There's no 12-month cap.
  • 40% in any month where 10 or more of your referred stores pay, applied to all of that month's commission. A store counts if its payments that month aren't fully refunded and it isn't forfeited under the rules. The tier for a month is settled on that month's final paying-store count; amounts already paid out are never changed.
  • Commission is calculated on what Shopify actually pays us for the subscription, after Shopify's payment processing fee.
  • Monthly, by PayPal or Wise.
  • $50 minimum payout. Smaller balances roll over to the next month. Once the partnership is over, we pay any remaining balance, whatever the amount.
  • Commission is earned when Shopify collects a payment, then held for 30 days so refunds and failed charges can settle. If a payment is refunded, its commission is reversed; if that commission was already paid, the amount is deducted from a later payout. If a store uninstalls, future commission on it stops.

How referrals are credited

  • You get a personal link (cobundle.org/r/your-code) and a partner code. Share both.
  • A store is credited to you when the merchant enters your code in Cobundle within 30 days of installing. Shopify's install process can't tie a link click to an install, so the code is what counts.
  • If a merchant forgets the code, we can link the store by hand when you show us the referral (for example, a link click in the previous 90 days plus the merchant's confirmation). Commission then counts on payments from up to 30 days before the store is linked.
  • If two partners claim the same store, the first one wins.

Extra for agencies and freelancers

  • Cobundle free on your agency's own production store, permanently.
  • Free on development stores, including client stores while they're in development. Paid plans start once a store goes live under the client.
  • White-glove first build: we set up your first client's bundle with you on a call.
  • A named listing on our partner page on the Cobundle website (never inside the app).

The rules

  1. No reviews. Don't leave a review for Cobundle on the Shopify App Store, ask or encourage anyone else to, offer anything for one, or have clients review on your behalf. Shopify App Store Requirement 1.3.1 bans incentives for reviews, and that includes commission.
  2. Disclose the relationship wherever you promote Cobundle, clearly and before any link, as the FTC (US) and ASA (UK) require. Paid promotion must always be disclosed. For example: "Ad / affiliate: I earn a commission if you subscribe to Cobundle through my link or code."
  3. No self-referrals or fake installs. There's no commission on stores you own or control, including your own development stores, or on installs that aren't real merchants choosing Cobundle.
  4. No spam, cookie stuffing, coupon or voucher sites, or paid-to-click traffic. Referrals must come from real recommendations to real merchants.
  5. Don't misuse Shopify's trademarks. Keep "Shopify" out of your partner branding (domains, handles or account names you use to promote Cobundle), and don't bid on Shopify trademarks in paid search.
  6. Be accurate. Describe what Cobundle does as it is, and don't make claims about other apps that you can't back up.

Reviews of your account

  • If we need to look into activity on your account, we may pause it while we review. While paused, the stores you refer are still credited to you, but commission and payouts are held, not lost. If the review finds no problem, held commission is paid as normal. If it finds a rule break, see Ending the partnership.

Changes to rates

  • We'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email before changing your commission rate or the volume tier. A change applies only to payments made on or after the date it takes effect.
  • Apart from the monthly volume tier, commission you've already earned is never recalculated. That covers every payment before the effective date, whether it's been paid out yet or not.
  • An increase can take effect immediately.

Ending the partnership

  • Either of us can end the partnership by giving at least 30 days' written notice by email. The partnership ends on the date given in the notice.
  • After a normal end, you keep earning for 12 months. Stores credited to you by the end date (the merchant has entered your code, or we've linked the store, by then) continue to earn commission for 12 months from the end date, at the normal rates (including the 40% tier in any month where 10 or more of those stores pay). After the 12 months, commission stops. Stores referred or credited after the end date don't earn.
  • We can end the partnership immediately for breaking the rules. If you break rules 1 to 5 (for example by buying or asking for reviews, fake or self installs, spam, cookie stuffing, misusing Shopify's trademarks, or undisclosed paid promotion), we can end the partnership without notice. There's no 12-month continuation, and commission from the rule-breaking activity is forfeited (a store found to be fake or your own is never credited to you again). Other commission you earned before the termination is still paid once it has cleared the usual 30-day hold and any review.

Partner records

  • We keep what we need to run the program and pay you: your name, email, payout details and partner code, the stores credited to you, your commission and payout records, and a log of changes to your account (rate changes, pauses, notices, forfeits and payouts, with our notes).
  • Commission and payout records are financial records: we keep them for as long as the law requires us to keep accounting records (at least 7 years after the last payout), then delete them.
  • If a merchant asks Shopify to delete their store's data, we remove their link to you and any notes about their store; the commission amounts stay in your records.
  • If a store was forfeited under the rules, we keep a keyed one-way hash of its domain (never the domain itself) so it can't be credited to you again.

Everything else

  • Payouts, the 30-day hold, refunds and the $50 minimum work the same way during the 12 months after a normal end.
